Dr Ho Whye Onn obtained his medical degree from University Malaya, passing with distinction.

He then through competitive advanced ophthalmology training in United Kingdom. Working and training in several prestigious Tertiary Eye Centres in United Kingdom including Tennent Institute of Ophthalmology (Glasgow), Ninewells Hospital (Dundee) and Manchester Royal Eye Hospital (Manchester), Dr Ho has been awarded fellowship by The Royal College of Ophthalmologists London and Certificate of Completion of Training (UK) in 2011.

Dr Ho has dual subspecialty fellowship training in Vitreoretina Surgery and Corneal Refractive Surgery in Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. Subsequently, he was a Consultant in Manchester Royal Eye Hospital for 6 years, managing patients presenting with multiple complex retinal problems including recurrent retinal detachment, diabetic tractional retinal detachment and surgical and medical macular conditions. He has also been trained in temporary keratoprosthesis beneficial in complex cases of corneal scarring requiring vitreoretinal surgery. He has also spent a full year of training in cornea and refractive surgery mastering corneal transplantation (performing penetrating keratoplasty and DSAEK) and refractive surgery using bladeless femtosecond laser and excimer laser treatment.

Dr Ho is also a co-investigator involved in numerous clinical trials in Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. He has worked in the team of Prof. Stanga who is the pioneer in performing retinal implants and subretinal gene therapy.

Equipped with extensive training and work experience as well as his dual subspecialty experience, he has returned to work in Malaysia. Dr. Ho is passionate about wholistic patient care (anterior and posterior segment) and good doctor patient communication.
